Six years ago, we lost our mom to late-stage pancreatic cancer.
She was the glue of our family. Even now, during holidays and family gatherings, the silence she left behind is heavy.
This photo was taken right before she left the hospital to spend her final 48 hours with us. We brought her home, draped fairy lights across the walls, surrounded her with memories, and shared words of love while she was still here to hear them. It was heartbreaking, but it was beautiful. It was a good goodbye.
That experience taught us that how we say goodbye matters.
Living in Singapore, we’ve sat through many void deck wakes that offer space to mourn, but the process feels rigid. We found ourselves wishing for something that felt more tender, where the focus isn’t just on generic rituals, but a true celebration of the life lost and on healing for the loved ones left behind.
Good Grief was born out of that gap.
We brought together our background in events and experience design to help people navigate endings with more intention. Whether you’re saying a final goodbye to a loved one, closing the door on a marriage, mourning a lost dream of what could have been, how we gather during loss matters.
This is our story, and what sparked Good Grief.
Thank you for being a witness to it. What’s yours?
